Phillip Martin
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Phillip "Doc" Martin; a rising alto saxophone stylist whose heartful, humble melodies are wooing live audiences on stages across the country as a performing member of The Marcus Johnson Project.
Martin's new CD, Pride and Joy, features 11 songs that just don't passively fit the traditional smooth, instrumental or funky rhythm genres. His tunes flex, bounce and bend offering audiophiles a "new sax" diagnosis. Martin plays his horn with a warm and clear tone supplemented by a chronic range that takes you on a soulful and energetic journey that likens comparisons to classical soul crooners like Donny Hathaway, Gerald Levert and James Brown. Look for Pride and Joy in stores Oct. 9th.

Joey Sommerville
Trumpeteer Joey Sommerville’s musical essence lies in the Baptist church. "When I was a teenager, I would judge the caliber of my playing by the number of people in the congregation who 'got happy'. If you aren't touching the listener's soul, then you aren't really playing music. Soul communication is the key."
